District to accept applications for 500 sets from the Dongdaemun-gu website from the 9th to the 19th... Includes eco-friendly boxes, soil, seedlings, and cultivation manuals... Participation fee 10,000 won per set

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) is distributing box gardens to expand the base of urban agriculture through easy crop cultivation and to contribute to revitalizing food self-sufficiency by utilizing garden boxes.

The box garden consists of an eco-friendly box, soil, seedlings, and a cultivation manual, allowing easy crop cultivation in various small spaces inside the home, such as balconies.

Applications for the box garden can be made from the 9th to the 19th on the district office website (www.ddm.go.kr) → Citizen Participation → Online Application. Individuals can apply for up to 2 sets, and groups can apply for up to 10 sets. The participation fee is 10,000 KRW per box garden set.

A total of 500 box garden sets (400 for individuals, 100 for groups) will be distributed this time, and if applications exceed the number of sets, recipients will be selected by electronic lottery. The box gardens will be delivered by courier to the applicant’s address.

The district expects that the small box gardens will bring the fragrant scent of spring sprouts into homes, evoke memories for elderly people whose daily lives may be dull, and provide valuable experiences for urban children to grow green crops themselves.
