California Reports First Death
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The number of deaths due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the United States has increased by 2. The affected areas are Washington and California. The total number of deaths in the U.S. has reached 11.
On the 4th (local time), according to U.S. media, the first COVID-19 related death in California occurred in Placer County. Until now, all COVID-19 related deaths in the U.S. had occurred in Washington state.
The deceased was an elderly man with underlying health conditions, who had been receiving treatment in isolation at a hospital in the Roseville area. Health officials estimated that this patient was exposed to COVID-19 while traveling on the 'Princess' cruise ship from San Francisco to Mexico last month.

Washington state health authorities also announced one additional death, bringing the total deaths in the state to 10. In King County, Washington, where Seattle is located, 8 deaths have occurred, making it a COVID-19 infection epicenter similar to Daegu in Korea and Wuhan in China.
