Jeongeup-si 'Sigi Eoullim Platform' Development Project Kicks Off
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 4th that it will officially begin the Jeongeup Sigi Eoullim Platform (Youth Housing) project, carried out in collaboration with Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).
The Eoullim Platform (Youth Housing) project is part of the Urban Regeneration New Deal project (Central City Type) selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2017.
The city and LH plan to invest a total of 4 billion KRW to build an Urban Regeneration Network Center (166㎡) and 17 units of Happy Housing by September next year.
Since announcing the project start last year with the demolition of the old Geumgang Motel, the city has completed the necessary design, various administrative procedures, and the selection of the project implementation company.
The Network Center will serve as a village tour information center and foster a new growth hub for youth industries through establishing a youth startup network in the old downtown area, creating brands, developing designs, and building web pages.
Happy Housing is expected to provide stable residential spaces for vulnerable groups such as youth, university students, newlyweds, and the elderly.
Additionally, the city created a small stage for street performances and busking for young people in the youth community plaza developed using a nearby vacant lot.
Through this, it is expected to generate synergy effects as a youth cultural arts and resident community space linked with youth housing.

Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “The Eoullim Platform is a project achieved through collaboration between local governments and public institutions and will serve as a good model for urban regeneration projects in other regions,” adding, “We expect it to play a key role as a community activity space for residents and in the successful promotion of urban regeneration projects.”
