Samsung Electronics Establishes Data IT Center... "Building an Advanced Smart Factory"
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Samsung Electronics has established the DIT (Data & IT) Center directly under the DS (Device Solutions) division.
According to industry sources on the 4th, Samsung Electronics upgraded the organization responsible for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into semiconductor factories to build smart factories into a center earlier this year.
The DIT Center's strategy is to formulate IT strategies for the semiconductor division and create advanced smart factories by applying AI (artificial intelligence), machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL) to semiconductor manufacturing data.
The center is headed by Executive Vice President Eunsu Shim, who previously led the AI & SW Center, while the AI & SW Center is concurrently led by Sungwoo Hwang, President of Samsung Electronics' Advanced Institute of Technology.

To strengthen its AI capabilities, Samsung Electronics has established AI research centers in five countries worldwide and has continued open innovation by recruiting related scholars. A Samsung Electronics official stated, "The DIT Center was established as part of the organizational restructuring."
