United Future Party Strategically Nominates Song Hanseop, Kim Eunhye, and Shin Bora... Kim Seunghui and Im Jaehun Virtually Cut Off (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Future United Party's nomination management committee strategically nominated former prosecutor Song Han-seop for Yangcheon-gu Gap in Seoul, lawmaker Shin Bo-ra for Paju-si Gap in Gyeonggi Province, and former MBC Newsdesk anchor Kim Eun-hye for Bundang-gu Gap in Gyeonggi Province.
Kim Hyung-oh, chairman of the nomination committee, announced these nomination results on the 4th at the National Assembly main building.
For now, former prosecutor Song, lawmaker Shin, and former anchor Kim were each strategically nominated for Seoul Yangcheon-gu Gap, Gyeonggi Paju-si Gap, and Gyeonggi Seongnam-si Bundang-gu Gap, respectively.
Results of single-candidate recommendations for Incheon, Daejeon, Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, and Gangwon regions were also announced. In Incheon Gyeyang-gu Gap and Seo-gu Eul, former Incheon District Prosecutor's Office chief prosecutor Lee Joong-jae and former Channel A main anchor Park Jong-jin were single-candidate recommended, respectively. In Daejeon Jung-gu, Yuseong-gu Gap, and Seo-gu Gap, lawmaker Lee Eun-kwon, former district court chief judge Jang Dong-hyuk, and lawyer Lee Young-gyu were single-candidate recommended, respectively.
In Gyeonggi Anyang-si Manan-gu, Anyang-si Dongan-gu Gap, and Gimpo-si Gap, former Anyang mayor Lee Pil-woon, former Seoul District Court chief judge Lim Ho-young, and former Liberty Korea Party Gimpo Gap party committee chairman Park Jin-ho were single-candidate recommended, respectively. In Chungbuk Cheongju-si Seowon-gu and Cheongju-si Cheongwon-gu, former Liberty Korea Party Cheongju-si Seowon-gu party committee chairman Choi Hyun-ho and lawmaker Kim Soo-min were single-candidate recommended, respectively. In Chungnam Gongju, Buyeo, Cheongyang counties and Chungnam Asan-si Eul, former floor leader Chung Jin-seok and former Liberty Korea Party Asan-si Eul party committee chairman Park Kyung-gwi were single-candidate recommended, respectively. Former lawmaker Park Sang-don was single-candidate recommended for Chungnam Cheonan mayor.
Lawmaker Lim Jae-hoon, running in Anyang Dongan-gu Gap, and lawmaker Kim Seung-hee, running in Yangcheon Gap, were effectively cut off.
Primary election regions were also announced. In Seoul Dongjak-gu Gap, former New Right National Alliance executive director Doo Young-taek, former Korean Bar Association spokesperson Jang Jin-young, and former Yonsei University East-West Problems Research Institute visiting professor Jang Hwan-jin will compete in the primary, while in Seoul Seongbuk-gu Gap, former Seoul Seongbuk-gu Gap party committee chairman Choi Jin-kyu and Han Sang-hak, director of the Korean Dental Clinic, will face off.
In Daejeon Seo-gu Eul, former Liberty Korea Party Daejeon Seo-gu Eul party committee chairman Yang Hong-gyu, former Blue House administrator Yoon Seok-dae, and Future United Party national security committee chairman Jeon Ok-hyun will compete in the primary. In Daejeon Yuseong-gu Eul, former Daejeon Metropolitan Council member Kim So-yeon, former Chungnam National University public administration professor Yuk Dong-il, and lawmaker Shin Yong-hyun will compete.
In Gyeonggi Uijeongbu-si Gap, former Uijeongbu-si Gap National Assembly candidate Kang Se-chang and former Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Kim Jeong-young will compete; in Gyeonggi Bucheon-si Sosa-gu, former lawmaker Cha Myung-jin and former Bucheon mayor candidate Choi Hwan-sik will compete; in Gyeonggi Namyangju-si Gap, former Liberty Korea Party Namyangju Gap party committee chairman Shim Jang-su and former Marine Corps commander Yoo Nak-jun will compete. In Gyeonggi Yangju-si, Kim Won-jo, chairman of the Yangju local tax review committee, and former Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Hannara Party representative Ahn Ki-young will compete; in Gyeonggi Pocheon-Gapyeong counties, former Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Choi Chun-sik and Future United Party Pocheon-Gapyeong National Assembly aide Heo Cheong-hoe will face off.
Before the announcement, Chairman Kim said regarding former President Park Geun-hye's message of unity, "Former President Park made a very righteous decision," adding, "Although the Future United Party was launched only a few days ago and there are many shortcomings and expectations from the public, the opposition must unite and come together to confront this huge threat to liberal democracy. I sincerely thank her for such patriotic words."
He continued, "If I may add, I had spoken about former President Park's release on the March 1st Movement Day and had mentioned it from a humanitarian perspective," adding, "I hope she will be released for humanitarian reasons and human rights, but that depends on the will of the administration."
Regarding the heated debate over former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo's candidacy, he said, "I am not concerned about such trivial matters," and "I prefer not to comment on those parts."

Chairman Kim said about the Daegu-Gyeongbuk (TK) nominations, "We aim to finish everything by this weekend," adding, "The workload of the nomination committee members is so intense that even the word 'overload' is insufficient." Regarding the decision to split Chuncheon by the election district delineation committee of the National Election Commission, he said, "I will discuss with lawmaker Kim Jin-tae whether it will be Gap or Eul."
