Honam University to Replace Classes with 'Remote and Online Lessons' for Two Weeks After Semester Start
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Honam University announced on the 4th that, in response to the spread of COVID-19, to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and the local community and to protect students' right to learn, the first semester lectures will be conducted as non-face-to-face "home + online classes" for two weeks from the 16th to the 27th.
All courses will be structured as a total of 15 weeks of classes, consisting of "2 weeks non-face-to-face (online) + 13 weeks offline classes," with online courses offering differentiated programs from the existing cyber lectures.
The two weeks of online courses conducted non-face-to-face will be provided in various forms suitable to the characteristics of each subject, including video lectures directly produced by professors, already developed video materials such as KOCW and KMOOC, general materials like books and Hangul files, and video conferencing formats through YouTube live broadcasts.
To enhance the quality of non-face-to-face courses, lecture materials will be operated through the university's Learning Management System (LMS).
Meanwhile, Honam University, which held the 2020 academic year online entrance ceremony on the 2nd, is conducting extracurricular courses such as foreign language and computer certification lectures through the 'HNU Pre-School' (preparatory school) program immediately after the entrance ceremony to strengthen the educational capabilities of freshmen due to the delayed start of the semester.
Foreign language courses are offered in stages, including basic and exam preparation levels, for English, Chinese, Japanese, and other languages, while computer certification courses include basic courses, office automation and general courses, operating systems and programming courses, and entrepreneurship courses.
Additionally, for students in the health field, the university plans to guide freshmen to autonomously design extracurricular learning they desire, such as online anatomy practice (e-Anatomy) and anatomy and physiology educational content.
