[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Kim Kyung-soo, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, held a press conference at the provincial press center on the 4th regarding the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and announced plans to improve the public mask sales system.
On this day, Governor Kim stated, "To fundamentally resolve the difficulties in mask supply, the national level must significantly increase the supply volume," adding, "Yesterday, 340,000 masks were supplied within the province, but considering that about 5 masks per person are being purchased, only about 68,000 residents can buy them, which is an insufficient quantity."
He continued, "To realize the principle of fair distribution, we will adjust the limit to within 3 masks per person as a phased measure, unify the sales time at Nonghyup Hanaro Mart and post offices to 11 a.m., and allow pharmacies to operate autonomously," and explained, "We will introduce a mask purchase history system utilizing the pharmacies' health insurance system. We are also considering introducing a distribution plan through village and neighborhood leaders in each city and county."

According to Governor Kim, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province increased by 7 to 70. Additional confirmed cases Gyeongnam 67, 68, and 69 reside in Geochang; cases 70, 71, and 72 reside in Changnyeong; and case 73 is a woman born in 1957 residing in Miryang. Classifying the infection routes of the 70 cases: 29 are related to Shincheonji, 10 to Daegu and Gyeongbuk, 10 to Geochang Church, 6 to Hanmaeum Changwon Hospital, 2 to Busan Oncheon Church, 1 from overseas travel, and 12 under investigation. Confirmed case Gyeongnam 13 has recovered and been discharged.
