Candidate Kim Seong-chan Promises to Expand 100-Won Happy Taxi Service
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Seongchan, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the by-election of Hampyeong County Governor in Jeonnam, announced on the 4th, "We will expand the support targets and scope of the '100-won Happiness Taxi' system, which was introduced to alleviate the inconvenience of residents in transportation-vulnerable village areas."
Candidate Kim emphasized, "The number of users of the 100-won Happiness Taxi has been steadily increasing since 2016, and the residents' response has become very positive," adding, "We will relax the distance requirement, which currently benefits those living more than 800 meters from the village senior centers to bus stops, and expand the support scope so that people with physical mobility difficulties such as the disabled and pregnant women, as well as low-income groups, can use it."
The Hampyeong County Happiness Taxi currently covers 9 towns and townships, 44 villages, and 56 villages, with operation routes from the villages to the town and township centers.
