Hwasun-gun Cancels Arbor Day Tree Planting Event to Prevent COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 4th that it will cancel the '75th Arbor Day Tree Planting Event' to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and block its influx into the local community.
The county has fully canceled the tree planting event scheduled for the 3rd of next month in response to the COVID-19 situation, where community infections are spreading nationwide and active measures are required.
The tree planting event was planned to plant 2,500 pine trees in the county-owned forest in front of Neungju Hyanggyo, San 23-2, Namjeong-ri, Neungju-myeon, with about 450 participants including public officials and forestry-related organization officials.
A county official said, "Although the event was canceled to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and ensure the safety of residents, projects to enhance the public functions of forests and create sustainable forest resources will continue."

Meanwhile, the county plans to steadily promote the spring afforestation project, planting a total of 485,000 trees over 221 hectares (117 hectares of economic tree planting, 31 hectares of large tree planting, 35 hectares of regional specialized planting, and 38 hectares of fine dust reduction planting).
