'Samsung's Full Effort to Share COVID-19 Burden: Providing Training Centers and Dispatching Medical Staff'
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Samsung Group, following its provision of the Samsung Yeongdeok Training Center as a residential treatment center to share the burden and overcome the COVID-19 crisis, has dispatched medical staff from Samsung Medical Center.
On the 4th, Samsung announced that doctors and nurses from three hospitals?Samsung Medical Center, Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, and Samsung Changwon Hospital?were dispatched to the Samsung Yeongdeok Training Center. This medical staff deployment was arranged to provide routine care for mild patients quarantined at Yeongdeok Training Center and to ensure prompt treatment if symptoms worsen.
The dispatched medical personnel are responsible for monitoring tasks such as verifying self-measured temperatures of mild patients on-site, supporting quarantine activities by the government and local authorities.
The medical staff are volunteers who have willingly offered to serve with their medical skills at disaster sites and will continue medical support in two-week rotational shifts until the COVID-19 crisis is resolved.
Earlier, on the 2nd, Samsung decided to provide the Samsung Human Resources Development Center Yeongdeok Training Center for mild COVID-19 patients quarantined at home due to hospital bed shortages. The Yeongdeok Training Center is used as a residential treatment center where even mild patients can receive medical supervision while in isolation.
Meanwhile, since the COVID-19 outbreak, Samsung has established a fund worth 1 trillion KRW to support operating funds so that partner companies facing difficulties can continue stable management. In addition, Samsung provided early payments totaling 1.6 trillion KRW for goods, supporting a total of 2.6 trillion KRW in emergency funds.

Furthermore, Samsung operates a "Partner Company Support Center" that shares information related to China, such as Chinese government guidelines and logistics/customs status within China, with partner companies and listens to their difficulties. On the 13th of last month, Samsung purchased 30 billion KRW worth of Onnuri gift certificates to revitalize the sluggish domestic economy and distributed them to partner companies. Samsung is also participating in efforts to increase flower consumption to alleviate difficulties faced by flower farms.
