Another 'Big Match'... Lee Sujin vs Na Kyungwon, Female Senior-Junior Judges Face Off
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] A head-to-head contest will take place between former judge Lee Su-jin of the Democratic Party of Korea and Representative Na Kyung-won of the United Future Party in the Seoul Dongjak-eul district. It is a competition between female judges, senior and junior.
The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 4th at the Supreme Council meeting that it had selected former judge Lee as the strategic candidate for Dongjak-eul.
Do Jong-hwan, the Democratic Party's strategic nomination committee chairman, described former judge Lee as "a talent recruited by the Democratic Party who moved the public through human rights-centered rulings," adding, "She grew up in a poor environment where she had to live as a lodger during her childhood. However, she never lost her dream, fulfilled her dream of becoming a judge, and since then has understood the hearts of the vulnerable more than anyone else and led fair judgments."
She is also the person who raised suspicions about the 'Yang Seung-tae judiciary's judicial corruption.' Chairman Do introduced her by saying, "She made a state compensation ruling in the Jo Doo-soon case and also raised suspicions about the delay in the forced labor trials during the Yang Seung-tae judiciary."
He added, "The Democratic Party judged her to be the right person to realize justice for social minorities with human rights at the center. We expect her to play a significant role in realizing a National Assembly where the people come first and judicial reform that guarantees human rights."
