The Best Gift These Days is 'Mask'!... Yeongam-gun Donates 5,000 Masks to Sister City Yeongdeungpo-gu
Distribution of 5,000 KF80 Masks Supported by Sister City Yeongam-gun to Residents... Full Effort to Prevent COVID-19 Spread by Minimizing Hygiene and Quarantine Blind Spots in the Community
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is collaborating with its sister city Yeongam-gun to provide masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The district will receive 5,000 KF80 masks from Jeollanam-do Yeongam-gun (Governor Jeon Dong-pyeong), one of the four domestic local governments that have sister city agreements with Yeongdeungpo-gu and have not yet reported any confirmed cases (as of March 3, 2020), to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Along with relief supplies, Governor Jeon Dong-pyeong sent a letter expressing his heartfelt sympathy for the difficulties faced by the residents of Yeongdeungpo-gu and conveyed a message of encouragement, hoping for a swift overcoming of the COVID-19 crisis and a quick return to a happy daily life.
The district plans to distribute the 5,000 masks arriving on the 5th to residents, aiming to minimize hygiene and quarantine blind spots and make every effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.
Yeongdeungpo-gu and Yeongam-gun established their sister city relationship in October 1995 for mutual urban exchange and have continuously promoted exchanges and cooperation between the two cities for 25 years.
In 2019, the two cities strengthened their long-standing friendship through activities such as mutual exchange of children's cultural experience groups, visits to the Yeongam Wangin Cultural Festival, participation of Yeongam-gun in the Yeongdeungpo-gu Eoullim direct transaction market, and visits to the Yeongam-gun Citizens' Day commemorative ceremony.
Amid the recent spread of COVID-19 in the community, with confirmed cases occurring locally and businesses and multi-use facilities being temporarily closed, the district reaffirmed its friendship with Yeongam-gun and seized the opportunity to overcome the crisis together through cooperation that transcends physical distances between local governments, turning adversity into opportunity.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “We sincerely thank Yeongam-gun, our sister city, for the meaningful supplies and messages of support sent during this war against COVID-19. The masks received will be distributed to residents to protect their lives and safety.”
