In addition, the district temporarily allowed senior centers to purchase about 100 masks each within about 50% of the senior center operating expenses, and plans to additionally distribute 270 hand sanitizers to 135 senior centers and 25,000 KF94 protective masks to senior centers and elderly welfare facilities.
Currently, the district has been fully closing senior centers and elderly welfare facilities since February 6th to protect seniors, who are vulnerable to COVID-19, and is delivering masks through the local community centers.
Along with this, on the 3rd, the district office’s Communication Cooperation Office delivered 5,200 masks to the Personal Taxi Transport Association and the corporate taxi company Geumosanun for COVID-19 prevention.
This mask delivery was carried out to help taxi drivers, who have frequent contact with many people and travel extensively, to assist the safe movement of local residents.
Earlier, the district visited two transportation companies located in Chang-dong (Ssangmun Transport and Hanseong Transport) and delivered 500 masks and 2 boxes of hand sanitizers.
At the delivery ceremony on the same day, the district listened to the difficulties of taxi companies related to COVID-19 and also handed out stickers containing COVID-19 prevention guidelines, asking them to thoroughly promote prevention to passengers.
Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, “As the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has recently increased, we are first supporting masks to public transportation workers who meet many seniors and residents who are vulnerable to health risks. We ask that you refrain from gatherings, unnecessary outings, or places where many people gather to prevent COVID-19, and thoroughly manage personal hygiene such as hand washing. We also request voluntary quarantine and prevention from public transportation operators who travel frequently, and we will do our best to prevent further spread of confirmed cases in Dobong-gu.”
