Jin Joong-kwon Criticizes Politicians: "Please Just Shut Up and Work Quietly"
[Asia Economy Reporter Shinwon Yoon] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon strongly criticized some politicians who recently called for a forced investigation into Shincheonji Church of Jesus (Shincheonji) on the 2nd, saying, "Please shut up."
On the same day, former professor Jin posted on his Facebook, "Politicians should please shut up and quietly do what the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) requests."
He added, "Stop the populism that appeals to public emotions now," and "As governors, they should act responsibly."
Recently, Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo, and Gangwon Governor Choi Moon-soon have called for a forced investigation into Shincheonji. In particular, Mayor Park filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 1st against Lee Man-hee, the head of Shincheonji, and other leaders on charges including murder, stating, "The prosecution must strictly investigate the Shincheonji leadership responsible for this situation."

However, the CDSCH stated at a regular briefing held at the Government Sejong Complex on the 2nd, "If forced government measures cause Shincheonji members to hide secretly, it could have a negative effect on disease control," and emphasized, "It is important to induce voluntary cooperation from Shincheonji," expressing the view that a forced investigation could negatively impact quarantine efforts.
