An Myung-soo, Former Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Appointed as Houston Consul General
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 2nd that Park Kyung-jae, former president of Dongbang Culture University Graduate School, has been appointed as the new Consul General in Los Angeles.
Former President Park passed the 22nd Administrative Examination and worked at the Ministry of Education. He also served as Deputy Superintendent of Education in Daegu City, Gyeonggi Province, and Seoul.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "Consul General Park has successfully carried out duties involving the public for many years," adding, "He is a suitable candidate who can smoothly manage relations with the Korean community and has international experience, having served as the UNESCO Representative in the United States."
For the Consul General in Houston, former Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahn Myung-soo, who passed the 15th Foreign Service Examination, was appointed. Former Ambassador Ahn served as First Secretary at the Embassy in the United States and as Director of the North America Trade Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He retired after completing his ambassadorship in Turkmenistan in 2015.

An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "He is a suitable candidate with extensive experience and understanding of the North American region," and explained, "The Houston area has a large Korean community and a highly developed energy industry, and this appointment is related to those factors."
