Jinyoung: "'Korean Cause of COVID Spread' Statement by Park Neunghoo, No Basis Whatsoever"
[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Ji-eun and Won Dara] Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare Park Neung-hoo's statement that the cause of the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was Koreans coming from China was called "an unfounded story" by Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Jin Young.
On the 2nd, Minister Jin responded to a question from Kwon Seong-dong, a member of the Future United Party, during the National Assembly's government questioning session, saying, "At this stage, I think it is a story without any basis." Minister Park had caused controversy by saying at the full meeting of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the 26th of last month, "The biggest cause of the spread of COVID-19 is Koreans who came from China."
Regarding concerns about asymptomatic infections through Chinese international students, he said, "The Ministry of Education is currently providing special management for international students," and about banning Chinese entry or conducting a full investigation, he said, "That part is a matter for the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency to decide."
