Boseong-gun Officially Enters Beverage Market Utilizing Boseong Tea
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Yong-chul] On the 2nd, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that on the 28th of last month, it signed a product development agreement to enter the nationwide beverage market this summer using green tea, together with the Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, T Korea Co., Ltd., and the Boseong Tea Producers Cooperative.
Through this agreement, the county will provide the regional brand, the Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services (Boseong Tea Industry Research Institute) will handle product development and technical support, and the Boseong Tea Producers Cooperative will supply organic tea leaves. T Korea Co., Ltd. will be responsible for launching, distributing, and promoting the developed products.
In response to the increasing demand from young consumers who prefer healthy and convenient beverages and home cafe enthusiasts, four types of beverages and convenient tea products will be developed, including green tea milk tea made with organic Boseong green tea and first-grade milk, green tea stick powder, bulk tea mix, and liquid base green tea.
Lee Jung-yeol, CEO of T Korea Co., Ltd., said, “It is very meaningful to distribute nationwide healthy beverages developed by the Jeonnam Tea Industry Research Institute under the brand of Boseong, the green tea capital of Korea,” adding, “It will be a successful model that coexists with the local community.”
A county official stated, “To continue the reputation of Boseong tea and develop Korea’s tea industry, we will make efforts in various areas such as signing business agreements with companies, registering as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System, and pioneering overseas markets.”
Meanwhile, Boseong-gun, the green tea capital, has been building trust with consumers through safe, high-quality tea by obtaining international organic certification since 2009. It has steadily grown in the premium beverage market with a premiumization strategy, increasing its market share.
Boseong tea has met consumers through various beverages such as Boseong Matcha and Boseong Black Tea in collaboration with Dongwon F&B since 1996, and from this month, it will officially enter the overseas market by exporting to the world’s largest online shopping mall, Amazon.
