COVID-19 Confirmed in American Woman in Her 50s After Visiting Daegu
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] A patient infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been reported in Washington State, USA, after visiting Daegu, Korea.
According to CNN, the Washington State Department of Health reported that the patient returned to Snohomish County, Washington after visiting Daegu earlier this month.
The woman visited Daegu from the 7th to the 23rd of this month, returned to work on the 25th, and began showing symptoms late that afternoon. She tested positive on the 27th and is currently in isolation at home.
Since symptoms appeared, the patient has avoided contact with others and stayed at home with her husband.
Dr. Kathy Lofy, Director of the Washington State Department of Health, said, "Considering the global spread of COVID-19, we expect more cases to emerge in Washington State."

The woman was classified as a 'presumptive positive case' after testing positive in a test conducted by the state's public health laboratory. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will conduct additional testing on presumptive positive cases to make a final confirmed diagnosis.
