Swiss Government "Ban on Events Over 1,000 Due to COVID-19"... Geneva Motor Show Uncertain
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The scheduled Geneva Motor Show on the 5th of next month has become uncertain. As a result, the unveiling schedules of new cars and new technologies by global automakers are inevitably disrupted.
According to local Swiss media, the Swiss government announced on the 28th (local time) that all public and private events with more than 1,000 participants are banned due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Swiss government made this decision by convening an extraordinary meeting of the Federal Council, the assembly of federal ministers, on the same day.
This measure takes effect immediately and will be applied at least until the 15th of next month. Therefore, the holding of the Geneva Motor Show, which is scheduled to be held for ten days starting from the 5th of next month, is also uncertain.
Currently, foreign media are reporting that the Geneva Motor Show has been canceled due to the Swiss government's policy decision, but the motor show organizers have not yet made an official statement.
