Yangcheon-gu Reports First Confirmed Case of COVID-19
26-Year-Old Woman Living in Sinwol-dong Visited Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital on February 10
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 26th, one confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, where there had been no confirmed cases until now.
The first confirmed case in Yangcheon-gu is a 26-year-old woman living in Sinwol-dong. She is responsible for blood collection work and was confirmed to have visited Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital on February 10.
She first showed symptoms such as a sore throat and a fever of 37.1℃ on the 20th, and visited the public health center's screening clinic on the evening of the 25th. After testing, she was confirmed positive and transferred to Seoul National University Hospital, a nationally designated hospital.
The confirmed movements identified so far include E-Mart Sinwol branch around 6 p.m. on the 24th and Geumhwa Wang Donkatsu for lunch on the 25th.
Disinfection measures were immediately taken at the confirmed patient's residence area, Geumhwa Wang Donkatsu, and E-Mart Sinwol branch. Both business locations were temporarily closed.
One cohabitant was tested on the 26th and received a negative result, and three close contacts identified so far were also tested and confirmed negative.
After an in-depth epidemiological investigation by the Seoul city government, the infection route and the confirmed patient's movements will be disclosed accurately and promptly once notified.
Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "With the occurrence of a COVID-19 confirmed case, we will strengthen disinfection work in multi-use facilities and do our best to prevent community spread. The confirmed patient's movements will be disclosed as additional information is confirmed, and we will take thorough additional measures based on the results."
