"Daegu Is My Hometown" Son Ye-jin Donates 100 Million Won for COVID-19 Prevention Fund
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Actress Son Ye-jin has donated 100 million won in donations related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) to the Daegu Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Kim Su-hak).
On the 26th, Son Ye-jin said, "Daegu is my hometown where I was born and raised, and where my parents live, so it is an even more special place to me. Hearing the news about Daegu was all the more heartbreaking and painful," adding, "I hope this can be a practical help to the low-income groups who are in desperate need of assistance and to COVID-19 treatment and quarantine activities more than ever."
The donated funds are scheduled to be used for quarantine supplies necessary for COVID-19 prevention among low-income groups in Daegu and medical support, to be delivered to neighbors suffering from COVID-19.
Meanwhile, recently, a series of donations related to COVID-19 have been made in the entertainment industry.
From actress Lee Young-ae to singers IU, Hyeri, actors Song Joong-ki, Jung Ryeo-won, and former figure skater Kim Yuna, many have participated in donations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On the 21st, Lee Young-ae donated 50 million won to the Daegu Community Chest of Korea. Also, IU and Jung Ryeo-won each donated 100 million won to the international relief and development NGO Good Neighbors on the 27th to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, IU donated 3,000 medical protective suits to the Medical Association.
On the same day, actor Song Joong-ki also donated 100 million won to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. Figure skater Kim Yuna donated 108.5 million won to Kyungpook National University Hospital, the regional responsible medical institution in Gyeongsangbuk-do.
