The Multicultural Policy Awards select local governments and institutions that have contributed to the development of multicultural policies, and Gwangsan-gu is known to have achieved excellent results in five areas including support activities for the settlement of foreign residents through various policies implemented.
Since establishing the first multicultural policy team in the Gwangju area in 2012, Gwangsan-gu has supported foreign residents and contributed to creating a community atmosphere where diverse cultures coexist. Furthermore, it has been implementing initiatives such as creating the ‘Dream Center,’ a place for exchange and communication between foreign residents and native residents, hosting the World Food Culture Festival, and operating the Foreign Residents Honorary Account System.
Going forward, Gwangsan-gu plans to continue laying the foundation for policies where diverse cultures coexist and communicate, including establishing basic infrastructure in areas with concentrated foreign residents and building family centers.
