Samsung Life Insurance Acquires Samsung Electro-Mechanics Badminton Team to 'Promote Recreational Sports'
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Samsung Life Insurance announced on the 27th that it will take over the Samsung Electro-Mechanics men's and women's badminton teams on the 1st of next month to promote grassroots sports.
Founded in 1996, the Samsung Electro-Mechanics badminton team has achieved excellent results at the Olympics and Asian Games and consists of about 20 male and female players.
Samsung Life Insurance stated that it plans to integrate the existing men's and women's table tennis teams, wrestling team, and badminton team to promote grassroots sports and contribute to public health improvement. It also expects to create synergy effects by managing amateur sports together.
In the case of the table tennis team, it has contributed to the promotion of grassroots sports by hosting events such as the Table Tennis Club Festival in June and July last year, and the King of Kings tournament in November, which was attended by 400 club members.
