Gyeonggi-do Invests 1.1558 Trillion Won in Returned Base Development and More
[Asia Economy (Uijeongbu) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will invest a total of 1.1558 trillion KRW in 59 projects for the development of returned U.S. military bases and surrounding areas.
The project budget consists of 91 billion KRW in national funds, 91.4 billion KRW in local funds, and 973.4 billion KRW in private capital, with the project areas covering 12 cities and counties within the province.
The province will invest 24.4 billion KRW, including 5.9 billion KRW in national funds, for land acquisition costs for two projects: Uijeongbu Camp Essayon Leisure Park and Paju Camp Haux Park development.
A total of 912.4 billion KRW, including 85 billion KRW in national funds, will be spent on 48 projects such as the Yangju Doha-Dukdo road expansion and paving, Paju Camp Haux road construction, Dongducheon city bypass road construction, Pocheon Gomo IC-Songwoo road expansion and paving, and Yangpyeong urban planning road construction.
Private investment projects include 10 projects such as the development of the Yangju station area.

A provincial official stated, "The Uijeongbu Happy Doori Center construction project will be completed this year, and a new project for the opening of the Uijeongbu Howon Middle School to Seobu-ro connecting interchange has been added," adding, "We hope this will help improve the quality of life for residents around the returned and granted areas who sacrificed for national security."
