Expansion of Public Work Programs for COVID-19 Prevention and Infection Control
Seoul Jung-gu to Recruit 61 for 4 Projects Including COVID-19 Response, Environmental Cleanup, and Job Center Operation...Eligibility Greatly Relaxed, Priority Given to Unemployed from COVID-19 Affected Industries...Recruitment Until March 2, Activities from March to August for About 6 Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seoyangho) is expanding public work projects to support workers in industries affected by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and vulnerable residents who have lost their jobs.
The recruitment fields include four projects: △ COVID-19 response disinfection and environmental maintenance △ Operation of Job Plus Center △ Promotion of recycling activation projects △ Civil service guidance assistants.
A total of 61 people will be recruited, with 42 selected specifically for COVID-19 countermeasure projects such as disinfection and infection prevention activities mainly in multi-use facilities.
The selected individuals will work 4 to 6 hours a day, five days a week, from March 10 to August 31, depending on the project. For those aged 70 and above, working hours are limited to within 4 hours a day for participant safety.
This project has significantly relaxed exclusion criteria for participation, considering the special circumstances of the ongoing economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
Eligibility requirements allow any resident aged 18 or older with the ability to work as of the project start date to apply, with priority given to unemployed individuals from COVID-19 affected industries such as tourism and retail service sectors. To expedite project implementation, the announcement period has been drastically shortened from 20 days to 5 days. However, recipients of livelihood benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act and unemployment benefits are not eligible to apply.
Participants will be provided with job opportunities along with various employment competency enhancement programs to help them find suitable jobs in the future, including △ customized employment counseling △ participation in job fairs △ vocational training support △ safety and labor education programs.
Those wishing to participate in the public work projects should prepare documents including an application form, consent form for collection, use, and provision of personal information, and job seeker registration certificate (available at the Job Plus Center on the 1st floor of the Jung-gu Office annex), along with identification, and visit their local community service center by March 2 to apply in person.
The district office will confirm public work participants after eligibility verification and notify successful applicants individually on March 9. For more details, visit the district website (www.junggu.seoul.kr) or contact the Urban Industry Division of Jung-gu Office (☎3396-5684) or the local community service center.
