Seongnam City Introduces 'Drone Thermal Imaging Cameras' to Block COVID-19
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has introduced drone thermal imaging cameras to block the spread of the "novel coronavirus infection" (COVID-19).
Seongnam City announced on the 26th that starting from the 25th, it installed and began operating drone thermal imaging cameras at the Seongnam General Bus Terminal in Yatap-dong, Bundang-gu.
The drone thermal imaging camera is installed along a unified passenger flow route from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily until the situation is resolved, checking the real-time fever status of passengers disembarking at the terminal with one drone thermal imaging camera.
In addition, a checkpoint has been set up at the terminal disembarkation area, and a standby duty team has been organized so that city employees can directly check passengers. If a passenger with a fever of 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher is identified, necessary measures such as immediate guidance to the local health center’s screening clinic will be taken.
The drone thermal imaging camera equipped with this heat sensor has superior performance compared to general thermal imaging cameras, enabling efficient heat measurement even from a long distance.
