Hyundai Motor Donates 5 Billion KRW to Overcome COVID-19... Chung Euisun Pledges "Concrete Support"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Chung Eui-sun, Executive Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, has rolled up his sleeves to support the prevention and damage recovery efforts against the rapidly spreading COVID-19 infection.
On the 26th, Hyundai Motor Group announced that it will donate 5 billion KRW to the National Disaster Relief Association to assist in preemptive quarantine and prompt damage recovery from COVID-19. In particular, the support will be focused on the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions.
Regarding this, Vice Chairman Chung said, "I hope that concrete support will be provided to directly help medical staff and medical activities such as treatment and quarantine who are doing their best in difficult circumstances."
Hyundai Motor Group will first support cash and relief/quarantine supplies, as well as prevention and quarantine activities targeting disaster-vulnerable groups, medical staff, and victims nationwide. Preventive supplies such as thermometers, hand sanitizers, and masks will be provided to low-income groups and self-quarantined individuals who are severely affected by the economic downturn.
Additionally, the group plans to assist medical staff in purchasing quarantine supplies and ensure that prevention and quarantine are carried out appropriately where needed.
Especially, early implementation of visiting quarantine services will be conducted focusing on the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, concentrating on timely supply of quarantine supplies and daily necessities.
They will directly visit elderly and disabled facilities, local children's centers, and welfare centers in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions to provide quarantine services and supply fever detectors, hand sanitizers, masks, etc., to help prevent COVID-19 infection in advance.
Food kits will also be delivered to marginalized groups and self-quarantined individuals in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. The food kits consist of food and beverages to help them manage meals at home during the two-week self-quarantine period.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group has provided emergency funds worth 1 trillion KRW to small and medium-sized parts suppliers facing management difficulties. Through a special agreement to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, Hyundai Motor labor and management decided to support suppliers suffering from sales losses by ensuring maximum production and timely market supply linked to market demand, shortening negotiation periods, and enabling suppliers to secure stable volumes throughout the year.
