According to the British daily The Guardian on the 25th (local time), Thunberg visited the University of Oxford in the UK and met Malala, who is currently studying there. Ahead of a youth protest on climate change scheduled to be held in Bristol, UK, on the 28th, Thunberg met with Malala to discuss the event and also participated in a discussion on the climate crisis and environmental activism with Oxford students. Malala canceled her classes for the meeting with Thunberg and posted on her Twitter, "The only friend I skipped school for."
Malala is a human rights activist who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 as the youngest-ever laureate at the age of 17. She has raised her voice for women's education in Pakistan since she was 10 years old. In 2012, she was shot in the head by the Islamic militant group Taliban and was transferred to the UK, where she survived. Since then, she has continued to lead movements for women's and children's education. Her contributions were recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize.

Thunberg is a teenage environmental activist from Sweden who has led school strikes and youth protests for the climate crisis since 2018 and was a strong candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize last year. When Thunberg, who was 16 at the time, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize last year, there was speculation that she might break Malala's record as the youngest laureate. When the American news magazine Time named Thunberg Person of the Year at the end of last year, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized it on Twitter as "a very funny thing," which made her even more famous.
