First COVID-19 Case Confirmed in Gwanak-gu, Seoul... Woman in Her 60s
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] The first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has occurred in Gwanak-gu, Seoul.
On the 25th, Gwanak-gu announced this fact through its homepage. According to the district, the confirmed patient is a 60-year-old woman residing near Nakseongdae Station. She had close contact with a couple confirmed in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon (cases 372 and 573) on the 19th.
The confirmed patient was notified by the Yuseong-gu Public Health Center in Daejeon on the 22nd as a contact of confirmed cases and was under self-quarantine. Subsequently, on the 24th, she developed COVID-19 symptoms, underwent specimen testing, and tested positive on the same day.
Gwanak-gu disinfected the area around the confirmed patient and instructed close contacts to self-quarantine. The confirmed patient is scheduled to be transferred to a nationally designated hospital.

Park Junhee, mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, "We will promptly and accurately disclose the confirmed patient's movement path as soon as the epidemiological investigation results are available," and added, "We will further strengthen disinfection of multi-use facilities in the district to minimize community transmission."
