First COVID-19 Case Confirmed in Gwanak-gu
A 60-year-old woman residing near Nakseongdae Station, close contact of confirmed couple (No. 372, 573) in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon on the 19th of this month
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 25th, the first confirmed case of COVID-19 occurred in Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee).
Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, "The first confirmed case has occurred in Gwanak-gu," and added, "We have made every effort to block COVID-19 so far, but we regret to deliver this unfortunate news to the residents."
The confirmed patient is a 60-year-old woman residing near Nakseongdae Station Road in Gwanak-gu. She is a close contact of a couple confirmed positive in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon (cases 372 and 573) on the 19th of this month. After being notified by the Yuseong-gu Public Health Center on the 22nd as a contact of confirmed patients, she was self-quarantined. Symptoms appeared on the 24th, and after specimen testing, she was confirmed positive on the same day. Cases 372 and 573 stayed near Nakseongdae in Gwanak-gu from around 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on February 19th.
The district plans to transfer the confirmed patient to a nationally designated hospital. Close contacts have also been instructed to self-quarantine, and thorough disinfection measures have been taken around the confirmed patient's residence and surrounding areas.
The district will promptly and accurately disclose the confirmed patient's movement routes as soon as the epidemiological investigation results are available.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, "We will further strengthen disinfection of multi-use facilities such as religious facilities and traditional markets to minimize community transmission," and urged, "Please follow COVID-19 behavioral guidelines such as hand washing, wearing masks at all times, and practicing proper cough etiquette."
