Hampyeong-gun 'COVID-19' Local Business Slump... Expansion of In-House Cafeteria Closures
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hampyeong County, Jeollanam-do (Acting County Governor Na Yoonsoo) is temporarily expanding the closure of its in-house cafeterias to help local self-employed business owners who are struggling due to the spread of COVID-19.
According to Hampyeong County on the 25th, the cafeteria closure, which was originally held once a month (on the last Friday of every month), will be expanded to four times a month (every Friday) for five weeks until the 27th of next month.
This measure comes as COVID-19 has recently spread to the local community, causing the local commercial district to become increasingly depressed and the sales of self-employed business owners to plummet.
Currently, the average daily number of users of the Hampyeong County Office cafeteria is about 200 people.
With this expansion of cafeteria closures, if these users dine at external restaurants near the county office, it is expected to greatly help increase the sales of local small business owners.
Meanwhile, there are a total of 22 local governments in Jeollanam-do that directly operate or outsource the operation of in-house cafeterias (including consignment), excluding the provincial office consignment and Jindo County, which does not operate one.
