First 'COVID-19' Case Confirmed in Seongnam... Daegu Shincheonji Church Member
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The first confirmed case of 'Novel Coronavirus Infection' (COVID-19) has been reported in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
Seongnam City announced on the 25th that a 25-year-old man living in Yatap-dong, Bundang-gu tested positive for COVID-19.
The man is a member of the Shincheonji Church in Daegu. The city explained that his identity and address were notified around 5 p.m. the previous day through the Disease and Health Integrated Management System, and a diagnostic test was conducted.
The confirmed patient is receiving isolated treatment in a negative pressure room at Myongji Hospital in Goyang.
Since it was confirmed that the patient took a bus from Seongnam General Bus Terminal to Daegu, emergency disinfection is being carried out at his residence and the Seongnam General Bus Terminal.
Additionally, specimens have been collected from the patient's parents for testing, and further movements and contacts are being investigated.

A city official stated, "Since the outbreak of COVID-19 on January 20, Seongnam City has mobilized all administrative resources to proactively respond and prevent the spread of community infections that began in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas. However, unfortunately, the first confirmed case has occurred today, and we plan to implement even stronger measures."
