US Reports 14 COVID-19 Cases, 2 Locally Transmitted
39 Infections Among Wuhan and Cruise Ship Evacuees
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the United States continues to increase. However, there is still no sign of community transmission within the region.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on the 24th (local time) that there are 14 confirmed COVID-19 cases. This is one more confirmed case compared to the 21st.
Among Americans who were aboard the Diamond Princess ship docked at Yokohama Port, Japan, and those evacuated from Wuhan, China, 39 have been confirmed infected. As of the 21st, 21 evacuees were confirmed cases, but 18 more were added over the weekend.
The U.S. CDC releases updates on COVID-19 confirmed cases every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
However, in the U.S., only 2 cases of community transmission have been reported so far. Twelve confirmed cases developed after traveling to areas where COVID-19 infection has spread, such as Wuhan.

Nevertheless, the CDC states that there is a high possibility of community transmission spreading in the U.S., and medical personnel are preparing response measures.
