Guro-gu Temporarily Closes Shincheonji Facility After Disinfection

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) has conducted disinfection and temporarily closed Shincheonji facilities in the area to prevent the spread and for precautionary measures following the COVID-19 cluster outbreak in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region.
Guro-gu announced on the 24th that, according to confirmation from Shincheonji officials, there have been no recent visits to Daegu by believers in the area, but they are closely monitoring the situation just in case.
Guro-gu has urged through its website and district SNS channels that “if any Shincheonji believers have recently visited Daegu or have symptoms such as coughing or fever, please visit a screening clinic immediately.”
The first confirmed case in Guro-gu was reported on the 22nd. The patient is a tour guide who traveled to Israel with pilgrims from the 8th to the 16th of this month.
Before receiving the final positive confirmation from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Guro-gu held an emergency countermeasure meeting chaired by Mayor Lee Seong at 8:30 PM on the 21st to discuss response plans by department. After the positive diagnosis on the morning of the 22nd, disinfection of the patient’s residence and movement paths, identification and isolation of contacts were promptly carried out.
One cohabitant tested negative for COVID-19.
