40s Female Employee Trained at Cheongdo Expressway Rest Area... Busan Direction Cheongdo Saemaeul Rest Area
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] An employee working at the Saemaeul Rest Area on the highway in Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongbuk, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to Cheongdo-gun on the 24th, a female employee in her 40s working at the Cheongdo Saemaeul Rest Area on the Shindaegu-Busan Expressway heading toward Busan tested positive for COVID-19. She is currently isolated and receiving treatment at Andong Medical Center.
This is the first COVID-19 confirmed case in Cheongdo not directly related to Daenam Hospital. Until the 23rd, all 109 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Cheongdo-gun were connected to Daenam Hospital.
The patient was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Miryang Public Health Center in Gyeongnam on the 23rd. She worked as a vendor selling chicken and other items at the Cheongdo Saemaeul Rest Area.
Health authorities closed the rest area and conducted disinfection operations. All 117 employees working at the rest area were placed under self-quarantine. It was confirmed that the woman’s husband is a wildfire monitoring officer in Cheongdo-gun, and 18 family members and co-workers were also placed under self-quarantine.

A Cheongdo-gun official stated, "With the rest area employee confirmed as a COVID-19 case, we are focusing on disinfection activities," and added, "We are concentrating administrative efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the region."
