[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, visited Yeocheon Jeonnam Hospital's screening clinic and the fish market in Yeosu to check the response situation in the eastern region amid the spread of COVID-19.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 23rd, Governor Kim visited Yeocheon Jeonnam Hospital that day to thoroughly review the screening operation procedures and on-site response system, and encouraged the efforts of hospital and public health center quarantine officials working on the front lines of COVID-19 prevention.
Governor Kim said, “I hope for thorough quarantine measures to prevent COVID-19 from occurring in Jeonnam. Active cooperation from residents and the medical community is crucial to block community spread. Until COVID-19 is eradicated, the public and private sectors must cooperate without lowering vigilance and respond with full force.”
He also visited the Yeosu fish market to listen to and encourage traditional market merchants suffering from sales declines due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Kim stated, “Although anxiety is greater than ever due to the recent surge in domestic COVID-19 infections, I ask residents to strictly manage personal hygiene and visit local traditional markets that are facing difficulties.”
Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province has recently intensified special quarantine measures for multi-use facilities in the province and strengthened infection prevention measures for vulnerable groups as confirmed COVID-19 cases have increased exponentially, raising concerns about community transmission.
