View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] As of 9 a.m. on the 23rd, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced that among the 556 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea, 309 cases, accounting for 55.6% of the total, are related to the Shincheonji Daegu Church.
Confirmed cases have occurred nationwide not only in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions but also among church members who attended worship at the Shincheonji Daegu Church and developed symptoms in their places of residence.
The quarantine authorities have currently secured a list of 9,334 members of the Shincheonji Daegu Church and are checking for symptoms. Among them, 1,248 reported having COVID-19 symptoms, 293 were tested as of the previous day, and 670 could not be contacted.

Jung Eun-kyung, director of the KCDC, stated, "We plan to deploy about 61 medical personnel, including public health doctors, to this area to collect specimens and conduct tests."
