The Daegu city government announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose from 154 as of 9 a.m. the previous day to a total of 209 as of 5 p.m. on the 22nd, with 55 additional cases confirmed. Among the 55 new cases, 45 were confirmed to be members of or related to the Shincheonji Daegu Church located in Nam-gu, Daegu.
In Daegu, starting with the 31st confirmed case on the 18th, the number of confirmed cases surged to 11 on the 19th, 34 on the 20th, 84 on the 21st, and reached a cumulative total of 209 on the 22nd.
In particular, a full survey was conducted targeting 9,334 members of the Shincheonji Daegu Church, and 1,261 reported symptoms such as fever and cough. Since the investigation of subjects for testing is currently underway, the occurrence of additional patients is considered inevitable.
