Conscription Postponed for Eligible Recruits in Daegu and Cheongdo Areas
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu Reporter] The enlistment of about 1,100 active duty conscripts residing in the Daegu and Cheongdo areas will be temporarily postponed.
On the 21st, the Military Manpower Administration announced, "As the Daegu and Cheongdo areas were designated as special infectious disease control zones this morning, the enlistment of active duty conscripts, social service agents, industrial technical personnel, specialized research personnel, and reserve naval personnel residing in these areas will be temporarily postponed."
The Military Manpower Administration is currently identifying the number of conscripts subject to enlistment besides active duty conscripts. These individuals' enlistment dates will be postponed until a new date is decided, and the administration plans to reflect the preferred enlistment dates as much as possible. The rescheduling of enlistment dates will occur after the special infectious disease control zone designation is lifted.

The Military Manpower Administration stated, "The postponement of enlistment for residents in the affected areas was decided through consultations with related agencies, including the Ministry of National Defense, at the intergovernmental level to prevent the nationwide spread of COVID-19."
