Gwanak-gu Supports Dream Start Program for Vulnerable Children
Establishment of 3 New Programs: Legal Consultation, Family Culture Experience, and Visiting Art Education, Total 27 Programs Offered...Providing Customized Services in Integrated Case Management and Various Fields Including Health, Welfare, Protection, and Education
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is stepping up its efforts in the ‘Gwanak Dream Start’ project, which supports vulnerable children to grow into healthy and happy members of society.
Gwanak Dream Start provides customized integrated services to legally vulnerable children and families aged 0 to 12 years (elementary school and below), promoting healthy growth and development of children and ensuring equal starting opportunities so they can grow into happy members of society.
The district currently conducts case management by visiting 201 households of 142 vulnerable children to understand their living conditions and complex situations.
Through this, the needs of the beneficiaries are identified, and various customized integrated services are supported in connection with 72 local resources such as educational facilities, hospitals, psychological treatment centers, and cultural centers.
In particular, programs such as ‘Podo Dream’ linked with the Podo Mall Cultural Center, a complex shopping mall in the area, and ‘Every Corner Cleaning,’ which provides pest control services for housing-vulnerable groups through an agreement with CESCO, have received great responses from the beneficiaries.
This year, the district plans to expand support by adding three new services as major programs: home-visit art education, family cultural experiences, and on-site legal counseling, supporting 27 services across four areas (▲Physical Health ▲Mental Health Psychological and Emotional Support ▲Childcare and Education ▲Culture and Leisure) and conducting integrated case management for beneficiaries.
Mayor Park Junhee stated, “We will provide customized comprehensive services in various fields such as health, welfare, protection, and education for children belonging to socially and economically vulnerable groups, and support them as much as possible to grow into healthy and happy future members of society.”
The Gwanak-gu Dream Start Center is located at 93 Nangok-ro (3rd floor of Nangok Public Garage).
