The ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ is an annual fundraising campaign conducted by the district and the Community Chest of Korea to help vulnerable groups during the winter season.
This year, Songpa-gu’s final fundraising amount reached 2.31 billion KRW, significantly exceeding the initial target of 2.1 billion KRW.
The district carried out active fundraising activities for three months from November last year until the 19th of this month. In particular, it encouraged participation from community members such as residents, professional organizations, companies, and religious groups.
As a result, warm gestures of kindness for neighbors were extended from various places.
Children from daycare centers donated coins collected with their small hands and proceeds from bazaars; neighborhood association leaders delivered funds collected together with neighbors; companies and churches donated kimchi and rice; and small business owners contributed coin donation boxes collected bit by bit. People from all walks of life expressed their hearts in diverse ways.
Among them were residents who saved their basic living allowance to help neighbors in greater need, and a senior citizen who has been donating 1 million KRW annually, sharing a warm story.
Additionally, the young startup cosmetics company ‘Ladrewvitz International,’ selected last year for the ‘Songpa Youth Startup Challenge Project’ and which expanded its business scale with district support, also participated in sharing. They donated 3,000 mask packs for vulnerable groups in the community, practicing social return and adding warmth.
The district prioritized delivering goods worth approximately 1.16 billion KRW, donated by sponsors, to 17,082 households and 293 social welfare facilities.
The remaining funds will be used to support living and medical expenses for vulnerable groups and to improve welfare for gap groups who face difficulties but do not receive institutional support.
