Gwangju Buk-gu 'Happy Nest Love Home Repair Project' Promotion
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 19th that it will promote the ‘Repair Maintenance Benefit Project’ in collaboration with Korea Land and Housing Corporation and the district’s own project, the ‘Happy Nest Love House Repair Project,’ to ensure housing stability for vulnerable groups.
The ‘Repair Maintenance Benefit Project’ is a program that provides housing welfare services considering income and housing aging for self-residing recipients of housing benefits.
To facilitate smooth project implementation, Buk-gu signed a consignment agreement with Korea Land and Housing Corporation, the dedicated agency for the Repair Maintenance Benefit Project, and will support repair and maintenance costs for 152 households receiving housing benefits with a total project budget of 900 million KRW this year.
The support amount varies according to the degree of housing aging: minor repairs (wallpaper, flooring, etc.) up to 4.57 million KRW, moderate repairs (windows, heating works, etc.) up to 8.49 million KRW, and major repairs (roof, bathroom improvement, etc.) up to 12.41 million KRW. Additionally, persons with disabilities and the elderly can receive up to 3.8 million KRW in extra support.
Alongside this, Buk-gu will continue the ‘Happy Nest Love House Repair Project’ this year with a district budget of 100 million KRW, targeting 61 vulnerable households.
The support targets are low-income, medical, and housing benefit recipients and near-poverty groups living in rented old houses. The project supports general house repairs such as wallpaper, flooring, windows, and bathrooms, as well as simple repairs like doorbells and housing-related items.
