'HiteJinro Terra, Sold 500 Million Bottles, Set to Dominate This Year's Beer Market'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] HiteJinro's 'Terra' is rewriting the history of the domestic beer market with differentiated ingredients, brewing methods, and packaging.
According to HiteJinro on the 20th, Terra surpassed cumulative sales of 500 million bottles last January. Compared to selling 200 million bottles in the first five months, the sales speed has increased about threefold. This means that each adult (based on 42.31 million people) drank 11 bottles, and if laid end to end, the bottles could circle the Earth twice (42,411 km) or more.
From its launch, Terra quickly settled in the market and spread by word of mouth among consumers, surpassing 100 million bottles (based on 330 ml) in just one month, setting a record for the fastest highest sales, creating a sensation.
According to HiteJinro's Q3 report, the rise in Terra sales also increased the operating rates of beer factories. The Q3 operating rates of the Gangwon and Jeonju factories were 68.9% and 45.7%, respectively, sharply rising from 42.3% and 26.1% in Q1. Industry experts predict that reclaiming the No. 1 market share in the beer market is not far off.
The secret to Terra's popularity lies in its quality and differentiated packaging. It uses 100% malt sourced only from the world's No. 1 air quality region and contains 100% naturally occurring real carbonation from the fermentation process, setting it apart. The product packaging chose 'green' as the brand color to best express the clean concept and applied it to all packaging. Additionally, a tornado-shaped embossed pattern was applied to the shoulder of the bottle to visualize the swirling refreshing sensation of the lager.
Since its launch, HiteJinro has produced a series of advertisements featuring actor Gong Yoo as the Terra model, adding various visual elements to convey the overwhelming refreshing sensation provided by 100% clean malt and 100% real carbonation felt the moment of drinking.
