Gangbuk-gu Does Not Let Its Guard Down in COVID-19 Prevention Efforts!
Saemaeul Leaders Gangbuk-gu Council Strengthens Public-Private Cooperation with Transportation Companies... Sterilization and Disinfection Extended to Bus Stop Boarding Areas Following Daycare Centers, Kindergartens, and Local Children's Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Kyum-soo) has decided to maintain and strengthen comprehensive quarantine activities, including in vulnerable facilities, as concerns about community spread have increased following the first suspected case of community transmission in the country.
So far, the district has formed a quarantine task force in collaboration with the Saemaeul Leaders Gangbuk-gu Council to conduct intensive sterilization and disinfection focused on areas with high foot traffic and multi-use facilities.
In particular, bus stops were divided into five zones, and disinfection of boarding areas has been carried out at least once daily to ensure residents can use public transportation safely without anxiety through proactive quarantine measures.
Additionally, local transportation companies have been encouraged to perform daily disinfection and water cleaning of city bus and taxi garages as well as transportation auxiliary facilities. Inside vehicles, frequently touched seats and handrails are disinfected, and transportation workers are required to wear masks.
Currently, a total of 637 facilities have been disinfected, including ▲ 220 bus stops and transportation offices ▲ 162 welfare facilities such as daycare centers, local children's centers, and welfare centers ▲ 159 lodging establishments ▲ 39 children's parks ▲ 38 schools ▲ and 19 traditional markets.
Previously, the district focused on eliminating blind spots in infection control by providing free rental of eco-friendly disinfection equipment to daycare centers and kindergartens, enabling them to conduct direct eco-friendly disinfection even in facilities exempt from mandatory disinfection under relevant laws.
Going forward, efforts will be concentrated on focused quarantine at local universities with Chinese international students to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 and alleviate residents' anxiety.
