Kolon Industries WACK, Apparel License Agreement with Japan's Takihyo
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Kolon Industries FnC Division (hereinafter Kolon FnC), which operates the contemporary performance golf wear brand WAK, announced on the 17th that it has signed a clothing license agreement with Japan's Takihyo Company.
Takihyo Company, established in 1751, is a Japanese company currently operating various clothing brands including golf wear brand JOY, as well as running select shops. Through this agreement, WAK's clothing products will be distributed in the Japanese domestic market starting next month, with production also commencing from 2021.
A Kolon Industries official stated, "The golf market in Japan is the second largest in the world and the largest in Asia. The proportion of young golfers newly entering the Japanese golf wear market is increasing, leading to higher demand for new brands and fresh content targeting this demographic."
In particular, last year at the LPGA Women's British Open, Hinako Shibuno, at the age of 20, won the second major championship in the history of Japanese women's golf, becoming a huge topic that was prominently featured on the front page of daily newspapers in Japan.
WAK is loved by golf consumers and players as an icon of victory by offering distinctive designs and highly functional clothing. Additionally, it recently signed a clothing sponsorship contract with player I Bomi, who has a strong fan base in Japan.
