Future United Party Launches on the 17th... Centrist Youth Party Also Declares 'Joining'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] As the centrist-conservative unified party, the Future United Party, officially launches on the 17th, a large number of centrist-conservative youth party figures have declared their joining of the unified party.
Jung Byung-guk, a lawmaker who has been leading the unification process, announced on the 16th at the National Assembly Press Hall that the centrist party "Brand New Party," the youth party "Gachioreum," and the policy party "Young Conservative," which have been promoting themselves as centrist, youth, and policy expert groups during their founding process, will join the Future United Party.
He said, "Many centrist and youth politicians who observed the content we announced while preparing for the party founding expressed much sympathy," adding, "Through discussions, Brand New Party, Gachioreum, and Young Conservative, which advocate youth centrism, decided to participate today."
Lawmaker Jung stated, "Even amid the overwhelming public demand to judge the Moon Jae-in administration through this general election, there was no conservative party that could embody the will and heart of the broad centrist conservatives," and added, "Through the unification process of the Future United Party, we were able to capture the hearts of the younger generation who advocate centrist, youth, and policy expert groups."
Park Hyung-joon, co-chairman of the Future United Party Preparatory Committee, also said, "It feels like gaining a thousand troops," and added, "This party, filled with young centrist and conservative politicians who have acted with expertise, conviction, and belief in various fields, and the preparatory committee members joining our Future United Party, gives us hope and a future."
Jo Sung-eun, representative of Brand New Party and former public relations committee member and emergency committee chairman of the People's Party, criticized, "Groups with power lasting only a few years have incited conflicts for their own interests, leaving only hatred among generations, races, genders, and all groups," and said, "Even the Honam people, with whom I have had deep and good relations as a leader of the People's Party, will be able to consider a healthy party as an alternative," promising to build such a party.
Cheon Ha-ram, representative of Young Conservative, said, "We have created Young Conservative, which boldly speaks true conservative values and aims to be a respectable conservative group respected even in Honam. When we initially released our policies online, a silent majority gave deep support," adding, "Although we originally planned to found a party independently, the platform of the Future United Party will be a great strength for us, and joining to try to change things from within seems meaningful."
Kim Jae-seop, founding committee chairman of Gachioreum, said, "We aimed to be a party where youth are the main actors, actively leading changes of the era, and eliminating the boundary between citizens and politics, but the time given to us is not long," adding, "Rather than preserving the independence of the organization, if our goals align, I believe it is right to willingly unite to prevent the imminent danger, and I want to stand on the shoulders of the giant called the Future United Party to see higher and farther."
