Minjung Party: "The People's Party's Orange Is More Vivid? ... A Play on Words Level Explanation"
"Progressive Parties in the Assembly Also Ignored... Various Responses Under Consideration"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 13th, the Minjung Party criticized the National Party (tentative name) for using orange as their party color, saying, "The National Party side made a pun-level explanation, claiming they are more 'vivid,'" and called it "an attitude that clearly shows the level of the National Party."
Lee Eun-hye, spokesperson for the Minjung Party, said in a briefing that afternoon, "Since the National Party even disregards progressive parties in the National Assembly, I don't think they will respect the people."
The spokesperson pointed out, "We are well aware of the public's disgust toward entrenched politics and abuse of power, so we are criticizing the National Party's attitude of having no qualms about using orange. That is why we proposed to meet and talk first rather than engage in a wasteful debate. Nevertheless, the National Party continues with an arrogant attitude."
She added, "Since orange is a symbol that Minjung Party members have cultivated with their blood and sweat, we are considering various responses, including personal and collective direct actions by party members."
Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the National Party's founding preparation committee, met with reporters immediately after a press conference at the National Assembly that morning and said regarding the party color controversy, "I want to ask instead, which party does green belong to? Currently, the Green Party, the Alternative New Party, and the Democratic Peace Party all use green," adding, "I have never heard that any color belongs exclusively to a political party."
