'Rotation Deployment' US Short-Range Attack Brigade Arrives... Mission Handover with 3rd Armored Brigade
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu Reporter] The U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division's 2nd Brigade Combat Team (Dagger Brigade) has arrived in South Korea through Gwangyang Port, Jeollanam-do.
The U.S. Eighth Army Command announced on the 13th, "As the rotational armored brigade combat team begins arriving in Korea, tracked vehicles and other equipment have started to be brought into Gwangyang Port this week," adding, "The offloaded equipment will be transported to its final destination via South Korea's railway system."
With this rotation, soldiers and equipment from the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Infantry Division, stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, will be deployed to South Korea. The 2nd Armored Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division is the eighth rotational unit to be deployed to Korea.
The existing 3rd Armored Brigade of the 1st Armored Division will return to Fort Hood, Texas, after completing a nine-month rotational deployment with the 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-U.S. Combined Division. As with the mission rotation nine months ago, the 3rd Armored Brigade of the 1st Armored Division will bring some equipment back to the U.S. upon return, while the 2nd Armored Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division will bring some equipment into Korea.
