Sim Jae-cheol: "Chu Mi-ae, who advocates 'separation of investigation and prosecution,' is a pseudo-legal professional"
[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Ji-eun and Kim Hye-min] Shim Jae-cheol, floor leader of the Liberty Korea Party, raised his voice in criticism of Justice Minister Chu Mi-ae's plan to separate investigation and prosecution, calling her a "pseudo legal professional."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly main building on the 13th, Floor Leader Shim criticized, "Minister Chu is desperately trying to destroy the rule of law."
He pointed out, "They purged prosecutors investigating crimes of the Moon administration through personnel reshuffles and refused to disclose indictments, and now they are trying to separate investigation and prosecution by the prosecution. No country in the world practices separation of investigation and prosecution, and it is a clear violation of current law."
Floor Leader Shim even composed an acrostic poem using Minister Chu's name: "Chu, Chu Mi-ae, the Justice Minister, is a national nuisance who only tries to do hateful things." He added, "Passing a law that grants both to the Corruption Investigation Office but proposing separation for the prosecution is a barbaric idea," and criticized, "The Prosecutors' Office Act states that the Prosecutor General has specific supervisory authority, but Chu Mi-ae is undoubtedly a pseudo legal professional."
He continued, "Assemblyman Cheon Jeong-bae made a reckless remark calling former Ambassador Tae Young-ho's candidacy a declaration of all-out war against North Korea," and pointed out, "Seeing that the Democratic Party also says Ambassador Tae's candidacy is a decision that mocks the people, it seems they are afraid of his candidacy." Floor Leader Shim said, "However, Ambassador Tae is clearly a South Korean citizen qualified to run," and asked, "Why do Democratic Party members side with Kim Jong-un? Wouldn't it be better for them to just cross over to North Korea?"
Referring to the novel coronavirus newly named 'COVID-19,' Floor Leader Shim called it "Wuhan pneumonia" and said, "Yesterday, the Korea Party submitted a resolution on Wuhan pneumonia, but the Democratic Party did not even want to participate in the proposal," criticizing, "They nitpicked that the word 'Wuhan' was included in the resolution, showing once again that the Democratic Party is cautious of China."
He raised his voice, saying, "We will urge the Democratic Party again to form a special committee. The Korea Party does not care whether China or Wuhan is mentioned. If the Democratic Party wants to take the chairmanship of the special committee, let them have it. Our party will protect the people through actual activities."
Regarding President Moon's remarks on extending employment, he said, "Companies are struggling and employment is severely contracted due to the administration's wrong policies, and this statement was made with the general election in mind," adding, "Extending the retirement age again will not only burden companies greatly but also narrow the employment opportunities for young people. They should first improve the reality where the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions is blocking employment."
