Yangcheon-gu Job Committee Fully Launched
Composed of experts on jobs for seniors, women, youth, and various social strata... Tasked with providing diverse ideas related to employment projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Local government policies are closely connected to the lives of residents.
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) announced that it has formed a Job Committee composed of representatives from various sectors to review job projects from multiple perspectives in order to create diverse jobs that residents genuinely need.
On the 12th, the district held the inauguration ceremony for the 1st Job Committee, which began its official activities on the same day. During the ceremony, the 2019 job creation performance evaluation and the 2020 job creation plan were presented.
The district aims to provide about 7,000 jobs annually and create 36,000 jobs over five years as a key goal of the 7th local government administration, promoting related policies accordingly. In 2019, the district achieved 94% of its annual job creation target and was selected as an excellent district in the Seoul Hope Job Creation Incentive Project.
Going forward, the committee will serve an advisory and deliberative role on all job-related projects in the district, including seven key focus areas such as ▲Youth’s place and job support projects ▲Women’s happiness! Women’s job projects ▲Confidence UP! Middle-aged and senior re-challenge projects.
This committee consists of 12 members with diverse perspectives, including public officials, district council members, businesspeople, journalists, professors, and job experts for seniors, women, and youth.
In particular, job experts related to seniors, women, and youth were selected by recommending representatives from each group to reflect the opinions of vulnerable employment groups. The director of Yangcheon Senior Club, the head of the Western Women’s Development Center, and the chairperson of the Yangcheon-gu Youth Policy Committee were appointed. The 1st committee formed in this way will operate for about two years until February 11, 2022.
